The 4´ organ of San Miguel del Valle is the last table organ in Oaxaca and the only one corresponding to the neoclassical period. Its case is decorated with striated columns and lambrequin carvings, which are highlighted by blue tones painted after the original construction. This contrasts with the case of its earlier counterpart in Huayapam, which still exhibited baroque religious imagery on its crest. The San Miguel organ has just four registers, including an 8´ bardón, which could have fit easily into the relatively tall case. The organ was apparently discarded in the 1990s, probably during a church modernization project. However, someone from the town recognized it as a historic object, removed it from the garbage, and fortunately returned it to the church.
