The case profile and the remaining carved decoration indicate that the organ of San Juan Teitipac may date from the early 18th century. The empty case was converted into a confessional and painted blue and gold by order of the priest in the 1950s, thus eliminating the organ's history since no other parts of the organ exist. The sides were modified with windows and kneeling steps and a door was cut in the center so that the priest could enter and sit inside. The organ probably no longer functioned at the time of its reconstruction.
